A major attraction around Dhariyawad is the Sitamata wildlife Sanctuary spread over 425 sq. kilometers. It is a deciduous forest consisting of bamboo and teak trees. It is also considered as one of the richest sanctuaries from the biota point of view. The sanctuary is known for its flying squirrels, panthers, four horned antelope, rattlesnakes, crocodiles, pangolins, wild boar and many more species. Sita Mata sanctuary is ideal habitat for herbivores, carnivores and variety of territorial, arboreal and water birds. Birds like grey jungle fowl, Aravlli red spurfowl, strong billed kingfisher, alexandrine parakeet, rose-ringed parakeet, plum headed parakeet and various other species can be spotted here.
According ancestral belief Devi Sita spent her days of exile in this forest at the Valmiki Ashram after leaving Ayodhya and this is where she gave birth to Luv and Kush (children of Lord Rama and Devi Sita). The only temple of Sita Mata in the world is located in this sanctuary.
